Building Your First App

Before you add Dartastic to an app, check that your Flutter and Dart are new enough for the packages you want.

Which Flutter and Dart you need

Find your app below. Check what you have with flutter --version (or dart --version for a Dart-only app).

Your appNeeds at leastWhat it gets
A Flutter app with everythingFlutter 3.44, Dart 3.12Traces, logs, ANR, RUM and replay, plus frame, jank, startup and vitals metrics.
A Flutter app on Flutter 3.22 to 3.43Flutter 3.22, Dart 3.4Everything except dartastic_opentelemetry_flutter_metrics: traces, logs, ANR, RUM and replay, without the frame, jank, startup and vitals metrics.
A Dart server or command-line appDart 3.4The Pro API with the engine, plus process and Dart VM metrics.
  • Why Flutter 3.44 for the metrics: the Android half of dartastic_opentelemetry_flutter_metrics relies on Kotlin being applied automatically, which Flutter's tooling does from 3.44 on (for apps on the Android Gradle Plugin 9). It is the only package that needs it.
  • Why Dart 3.4 for the Pro API: its web half uses dart:js_interop.
  • dartastic_opentelemetry_native_flutter says Flutter 3.16 / Dart 3.0 in its pubspec, but the packages it depends on need Flutter 3.22 / Dart 3.4, so that is its real minimum.

Keep the three Pro packages on one version

dartastic_opentelemetry_native_engine, dartastic_opentelemetry_native and dartastic_opentelemetry_native_flutter are released together and must all be the same version: today, all three at 1.22.4. Each of them needs the open-source SDK at ^1.1.0-beta.17 and the API at >=1.0.0-rc.4 <1.0.0-rc.5; dart pub get picks those for you.
