Connect your AI assistant (MCP)

Ask Claude Code, claude.ai or any assistant that speaks MCP about your own telemetry. It signs in as you, reads only the organization you choose, and can't change anything.

Turn it on for your organization

AI assistants are off until an Owner or Admin turns them on. In the Control Room, open AI, then Settings, and turn on AI assistants (MCP). The card shows your organization's address, the one every assistant connects to. On Dartastic Cloud it is https://cloud.dartastic.io/mcp.

Everyone in the organization who can view the Observatory may then connect: Owners, Admins, Observatory Viewers and Observatory Editors.

Claude Code

Add the server once, in a terminal:

shell
claude mcp add --scope user --transport http dartastic https://cloud.dartastic.io/mcp

--scope user makes it available in every project. Without it, Claude Code adds the server only to the folder you ran the command in, and a session started anywhere else won't list it. A session that was already running picks up the new server after a restart (claude --continue reopens your conversation).

Then, in Claude Code, run /mcp. dartastic shows as needing authentication: choose it, then Authenticate. Your browser opens dartastic.io: sign in, choose the organization, and choose Allow. The browser then lands on a page on your own computer (localhost) saying the sign-in worked: that is Claude Code receiving it, and you can close the tab. Back in Claude Code, dartastic is connected. Ask away:

  • "Which screens of checkout-app were slowest yesterday?"
  • "Show me the errors in the last hour and the traces they came from."
  • "Find the sessions of rum2@example.com today and what went wrong in them."

claude.ai and other assistants

In claude.ai, add a custom connector with your organization's address. Any other assistant that supports remote MCP servers over HTTP takes the same address. Each one signs you in through dartastic.io the same way, and asks which organizations to read.

Several organizations

On Cloud, one connection reads every organization you allow, up to 32. Each question names the organization it reads, so switching takes no sign-in. A Hosted server has one organization, so its connection reads that one.

To add an organization, open the link the assistant gives you when you ask it for one it can't read. You pick from your other organizations and the assistant can read them without reconnecting. You sign in only if your session has ended, or if that organization requires its own identity provider.

What an assistant can read

Your organization's services, traces, logs, metrics, sessions and jank hotspots, and the catalog of the attributes your apps send: the same telemetry you see in the Observatory. It reads only the organizations you allowed, and each one only while you still have access there. Nothing it does changes your data, your settings or your apps.

What the assistant reads goes to the assistant and the AI model behind it. Connect only assistants you trust with your telemetry, under your organization's rules for AI tools.

Staying signed in

Once you allow an assistant it stays connected as you use it. A connection unused for 7 days ends, and every connection ends after 30 days; then the assistant asks you to sign in again.

Disconnecting

  • One assistant: open Profile in the Control Room. Connected AI assistants lists each one with its organization and when it was last used; choose Revoke.
  • Everyone in an organization: an Owner or Admin turns off AI assistants in AI, Settings. Every connection to the organization ends at once.
  • Leaving an organization, or losing access to its Observatory, ends your connections to it too.

Good to know

  • The sign-in page shows the name the assistant gave itself. Allow only an assistant you just started connecting yourself.
  • Asking through your own assistant doesn't count toward Dartastic AI's daily questions: no Dartastic model runs.
